The Umbrella Academy season 4 cast confirmed some HUGE news about the series, and we’ve updated the release timeline for the final season of the Netflix original series.
The Umbrella Academy season 3 debuted on June 22, 2022, and we finally found out what happens between the Umbrella and the Sparrow Academy. Last we saw of our favorite Hargreeves siblings, they were battling it out against the Commission and trying to find a way home. But when they got back to their present-day timeline, everything changed.
Now, in The Umbrella Academy season 3, they have to deal with the fact that the Sparrows now live in their home. As Number Five (Aidan Gallagher) states in the trailer, they’ve created a time travel paradox and have to figure out how to fix it. It’s never a dull moment with this crew!

Yes! On Aug. 25, 2022, Netflix announced that The Umbrella Academy season 4 is on the way. It’s unfortunate that fans had to wait so long between the release of season 3 and the announcement about season 4. It’s always good to see a big Netflix show like this get renewed, but there’s also a bit of bad news for fans.
The Umbrella Academy season 4 is the final season
The fourth season will also be the final season of the series, according to Deadline. While that’s certainly bittersweet, we’ll at least get one more season to finish things up with the characters.
Most Netflix shows don’t make it four seasons. Many never even get a second season. It’s great that after all this time the cast and creative team get to choose the ending and go out on their terms. What will those terms be? Well, it’s going to be really interesting to see, especially considering how season 3 ended.
We recently learned some more important news regarding season 4, and it’s not that good if you’re a big fan of The Umbrella Academy.
The Umbrella Academy season 4 is only six episodes
Steve Blackman, the showrunner, confirmed that there will only be six episodes in The Umbrella Academy season 4. In each of the first three seasons, there were 10 episodes. So, it’s going to be quite a bit shorter than the first three seasons.
There will be 36 episodes in The Umbrella Academy by the time the season finishes.
We know you’re bummed out about the shortened final season of The Umbrella Academy, but there’s good news on the way.

We don’t know all of the episode titles of The Umbrella Academy season 4 yet. We probably won’t find out that information until right before the final season, although Netflix has given fans a sneak peek at episode titles for some shows months in advance.
We do know the episode of the first episode of season 4, though. Blackman shared the title of season 4 premiere on Instagram, and it’s “The Unbearable Tragedy of Getting What You Want.” It’s written by Blackman and Jesse McKeown.
Blackman also revealed the title of the season finale, “The End of Beginning.”

It’s been confirmed that Nick Offerman, Megan Mullally, and David Cross will also star in The Umbrella Academy season 4. Offerman and Mullally, who are married in real life, will play Drs. Gene and Jean Thibedeau in the new season. Cross will play Sy Grossman.
There’s also reason to expect cast members from previous seasons, including the Sparrows from season 3, to return for season 4. It’s a short season so there might not be room for everyone, but I think we could see Cazzie David, Genesis Rodriguez, Britne Oldford, Justin Cornwell, and Jake Epstein in the fourth season.

Well, we’ve shared a lot of news for fans of The Umbrella Academy. Now, it’s time for more good news, but first, no, Netflix has not announced The Umbrella Academy season 4 release date yet. It’s still far too soon for that, but let’s get to the good news.
For one, production has ended on season 4. That’s a good sign for those hoping to see the final season on Netflix soon. Of course, the creative team and post-production teams still have a lot of work ahead, but now that production is done, we should start learning a lot more about the new season, including story information, new cast and characters, and more.
For a long time, our team at Netflix Life was anticipating The Umbrella Academy season 4 release date in early 2024. Interestingly, though, Reddit spies shared news from Dark Horse Comics that claims The Umbrella Academy season 4 is coming in 2023! That would be amazing, and it’s definitely possible with production ending in May.
If everything goes well and Netflix puts the pedal to the metal, there’s definitely a chance we could see the new season by the end of the year. The WGA strike is likely to delay filming for at least a while longer on a number of Netflix production. Netflix could position The Umbrella Academy season 4 for a November or December release date.
But, that’s still a little bit of a long shot right now.
Release Prediction: Maybe late 2023, but definitely early 2024
Netflix always rolls out a big show in sci-fi or fantasy show in February or March. We think The Umbrella Academy season 4 could be that show in 2024.
