Bridgerton season three is officially on the way, and there are lots to get excited about. Season two of Netflix's romance period drama dropped on the 25 March, and while we're all still obsessed with Kate Sharma and Anthony Bridgerton's story, there will soon be another Regency couple to fawn over Penelope and Colin!
As well as teasing *all* the Polin content, Simone Ashley (who plays Kate Sharma) has now revealed that the show is about to get "super steamy".
Describing season three in three words, she told E! News, "Polin, love and new beginnings." As for what else we can expect, Simone responded on whether S3 will live up to the hype surrounding Bridgerton's steamy reputation. She shared, "Oh yeah, I think [it's] condensation central. It's gonna get super steamy."
Here's everything we know about Bridgerton season 3 so far, from expected release date to casting news and what might happen in the next series.
When did Bridgerton season 3 start filming?
Big news, Bridgerton fans: As of 20th July 2022, season 3 is officially in production. Yep: the petticoats are on and the wigs are out, because the likes of the Featheringtons and Bridgertons are back prancing around and doing lots of deep, sexy breathing.
In the announcement video, all the main cast can be seen switching their fingers from showing a number two to a number three. Exciting! As the official caption read, "I spy the makings of a new social season. By the looks of things, it would seem the third instalment of Bridgerton is officially underway.
When was Bridgerton season 3 announced?
Bridgerton season three was initially confirmed back in April 2021. Plus, season four has already been announced too - so it's double the good news!
The news was shared by Netflix on Facebook, in a statement which read, "Esteemed members of the Ton, it seems we have a rather special announcement. Bridgerton shall return for seasons three and four. The author shall have to purchase more ink... Yours Truly, Lady Whistledown."
What have the cast said about Bridgerton season 3?
OK, we might still be getting over Bridgerton season two, but there's plenty of good news coming from the cast about season three. On top of Simone Ashley sharing details, new season three cast member Hannah Dodd has opened up about the "steaminess" we can expect from future Bridgerton episodes, with the actress confirmed to play Francesca Bridgerton.
Hannah was announced as the new Francesca in mid-May 2022, after current actress Ruby Stokes had to leave due to scheduling clashes. Speaking to Page Six about the new role, Hannah revealed, "Francesca’s book is like a complete mix of the both [steamy and tortured]."
She went on, "I’m, like, a massive fan of Bridgerton, so I’m like, 'Bring on the steaminess,' but then I’m like, 'I don’t want to do that.' I want it for the people who watch it, but to actually do it is quite scary."
As for other exciting updates, it was confirmed in May that season three will officially be about Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton! Hoorah.
Who will star in Bridgerton season 3?
In big news, Netflix revealed in mid-May 2022 that fan favourite Francesca Bridgerton (played by Ruby Stokes) is being recast due to a filming clash with another project (Lockwood & Co.) The role will now be taken on by Hannah Dodd, who played the younger Sienna Miller in Anatomy Of A Scandal.
The official character description reads, "Francesca Bridgerton is a bit of a mystery within her chatty, extroverted family. Despite her reserved nature, she goes along to get along when it comes to society affairs, fortified with a dry wit and pragmatism that confound the fickle ton yet seem to draw attention when she least desires it."
