Stranger Things season 5 is happening! Netflix announced in February 2022 that the show was also greenlit for a fifth season.

While details so far are scant on what to expect for season 5, Noah Schnapp gave a tiny sneak peek while accepting the People's Choice Award for Male TV Star on Dec. 6.

"You guys are not ready for what's coming," he said. "So get ready."

That's not much, but it's something. Plus, we do have some solid intel on the series, including whether or not this will be the last we see of Eleven, Hopper, and the rest of the beloved Hawkins gang.

Will there be Stranger Things Season 5?

Indeed! In February 2022, Netflix said in a statement that Stranger Things would return for Season 5.

Showrunners and creators Matt and Ross Duffer (known as "The Duffer Brothers") wrote in a Netflix blog (via The Hollywood Reporter), "Seven years ago, we planned out the complete story arc for Stranger Things. At the time, we predicted the story would last four to five seasons. It proved too large to tell in four, but — as you’ll soon see for yourselves — we are now hurtling toward our finale. Season 4 will be the penultimate season; Season 5 will be the last."

Is Season 4 the last season of Stranger Things?

Season 4 is not the last season of Stranger Things, but it is the beginning of the end. Season 5 will be the final season of the series, and Season 4 has been marketed with the tagline, "Every ending has a beginning." The penultimate season set up Season 5.

Ross Duffer previously told The Hollywood Reporter, "Season 4 won't be the end. We know what the end is, and we know when it is. [The COVID-19 pandemic] has given us time to look ahead, figure out what is best for the show. Starting to fill that out gave us a better idea of how long we need to tell that story."

When did Stranger Things Season 4 come out?

Stranger Things Season 4 was released in two volumes. Season 4, Volume 1 dropped on Netflix on May 27, 2022, and Season 4, Volume 2 was released on the streaming platform on July 1, 2022.

"The gap should be quite a bit shorter this time, due to the fact that we already have an initial outline, and we can't imagine there will be another six-month forced hiatus," they said, adding, "During the six-month pandemic hiatus, we outlined Season 5 and pitched it to Netflix. Everyone there had also been present when we first pitched the show in 2015. While we were strangers then, we were now friends, and there were a lot of tears when it was over. It's just been an extraordinary journey for all of us, and while it's hard to believe that we're approaching the end, we feel incredibly lucky to have such amazing partners."
