The third season of Umbrella Academy just dropped on Netflix, but fans are already wondering if there will be a fourth season.
Series creator Steve Blackman would like to wrap up the saga in a fourth and final season. "I think inevitably if we got a season 4, it’s going towards an endgame," Blackman told TheWrap. "I think at a certain point, I’m not sure where we’d go after Season 4. We have to be careful."

He continued, "My plan for next year is not to continually tread on the same ground we have before. It’s a challenge to come up with a new way to subvert this storyline, and I think we have an idea of how to do that. But I think if we got to season four, it would be a great ending for the run of the show. I’m not saying I couldn’t do more, but you know, I think that would be very satisfying for the audience, four seasons."
There's plenty of source material; the Netflix show is based on a comic series written by My Chemical Romance's Gerard Way and illustrated by Gabriel Bá.
However, Netflix has yet to renew The Umbrella Academy for a fourth season. As Blackman told The Hollywood Reporter, "We haven’t been picked up — I have my fingers crossed. But I know what season four is in my head. I’ve already sort of worked out the beginning, middle, and end of it. When I started this thing, I sort of knew four seasons of the show. I have nothing passed that in my brain, but I’ve sort of kept to a trajectory. So, I have a really good sense of what season four would be, and it should be just as bonkers as the other seasons—what a challenge these superheroes, this family has been powerless."
Season three followed the Umbrella Academy as they returned to the present from 1963, where they are confronted with the Sparrow Academy and an unidentified destructive entity wreaking havoc in the universe. The season ends with a major cliffhanger—where the crew lost their powers and a few members of their family.
