Has Stranger Things Season 5’s Plot Secretly Already Been Revealed?
One scene during Stranger Things season 4 might have secretly revealed the plot for Stranger Things 5. The Duffer Brothers' hit Netflix series is set to end with a fifth and final season that is bound to be as intense as those previous. The fantasy game Dungeons & Dragons has been a long-running theme throughout Stranger Things, with the young characters naming the monsters they fight after creatures featured in the game, such as the Demogorgons, the Mind Flayer, and Vecna, Stranger Things 4's menacing villain.
In Stranger Things season 4, episode 1, "The Hellfire Club," viewers are introduced to Eddie Munson, a friend to Mike, Dustin, and Lucas, and leader of their school's Dungeons & Dragons society: the Hellfire Club. During the episode, Eddie leads the club in his D&D campaign, with Lucas' sister Erica playing in her brother's place. In the game, the players come across hooded cultists who are recognized after lowering their hoods. There is one cultist who the gang doesn't recognize, a figure with shriveled, desiccated skin who is missing his left arm and left eye. This is revealed to be the long-thought-dead Vecna. At the climactic end of the game, Dustin rolls an 11, not enough to kill Vecna, but Erica rolls a 20 and kills the villain. While the details of the game could just be foreshadowing for the appearance of Vecna, a.k.a. Henry Creel/One, there could be a deeper meaning to the campaign
Since the narrative of Eddie's campaign features very specific details that don't show up in the already action-packed Stranger Things season 4, it could be that the Dungeons & Dragons game is laying out the main plot points for the upcoming Stranger Things season 5. Vecna is still alive after the shocking season 4 finale. Although after being attacked by Nancy, Steve, and Robin in the Upside Down, he is confirmed to be badly hurt thanks to Will's connection to him, perhaps missing an arm and an eye. If Eddie's campaign does reveal the plot of Stranger Things 5, viewers will surely see Vecna back in full force and bring some dark twists with him.
