The wait for Stranger Things seasons 4 might be one of the longest in Netflix history. Season 3 was released in July 2019, and as of February 2022, the highly anticipated (to put it lightly) fourth season still hasn’t premiered.

Unfortunately, Stranger Things season 4 won’t be coming to Netflix in February 2022, since the series wasn’t included on the complete list of new release movies and shows for the month. But we weren’t expecting season 4 to be released in February.

On Stranger Things Day 2021, Netflix announced that season 4 would be coming in summer 2022. Of course, “summer” is a very broad release timeframe, which has left fans theorizing and searching for any and all clues that could point to a concrete release date.

In the lead-up to summer 2022, there’s still so much more information about Stranger Things season 4 to come, and there are new rumors every day about what new details could be announced in February, perhaps even on Super Bowl Sunday.

Stranger Things season 4 release rumors


On Jan. 31, Stranger Things star Noah Schnapp shared an Instagram story with this tease: “S4 promo this week… here we go again.” Naturally, fans hungry for fresh season 4 content took Schnapp’s post and ran with it, hoping for new updates this month.

As Super Bowl, Sunday approaches on Feb. 13, Stranger Things fans believe some sort of announcement could arrive ahead of or on that date. However, Deadline reports an advanced preview of the film studios and streaming services priming new trailer drops during the big game, but the preview so far only includes the trailer for the upcoming Netflix movie The Adam Project.

It’s possible a surprise drop of a new clip and an official release date could arrive on Super Bowl Sunday, considering Schnapp has hinted that promo has begun, but as of Feb. 3, any new movement as far as season 4 is concerned will remain to be seen.
