Gentefied season 2 premiered on Nov. 10 on Netflix and reunited fans with the Morales family. The new season without a doubt ranks as one of the best Netflix shows of 2021, and we’re already looking forward to what’s to come in Gentefied season 3.
The comedy-drama series from creators Marvin Lemus and Linda Yvette Chávez and executive producer America Ferrera centers on a Latinx family in East Los Angeles. Continuing to work toward their American Dream in season 2, the Morales family doesn’t give up against great odds.
In the eight-episode follow-up season, Gentefied just gets better and stronger in its personal and relatable storytelling. We get to know the characters on a deeper level, and the incredibly underrated cast steps up to the occasion.
While we’re still reveling in the second season, here’s what we know so far about the Gentefied season 3 release date and much more, with additions included as more details are released.
How many seasons of Gentefied are there?
Currently, there are two seasons of Gentefied on Netflix. The first season contains 10 episodes that range from 26-34 minutes, while the second season contains eight episodes with similar runtimes.
Will there be a Gentefied season 3?
As of November 2021, Netflix hasn’t revealed the future of Gentefied beyond its just-released second season. The streamer typically waits about a month to track viewership data before announcing renewals or cancellations.
Of course, there are exceptions and word on its fate could take longer. The series was renewed for season 2 in May 2020, about three months after its release in February 2020. A renewal for season 3 could come as late as February 2022, but keep your fingers crossed.
Gentefied season 3 release date
Although the first season debuted on Netflix in February 2020, the second season experienced delays due to the pandemic. Season 2 was ultimately released in November 2021, much later on the calendar the initial series premiere.
Since Gentefied hasn’t yet been renewed, there’s also no current timeframe for production, but fans shouldn’t expect filming on a potential third season to begin much before early 2022. Depending on when the renewal and filming take place, season 3 could be released as early as summer 2022, though another fall release seems much more likely right now.
Gentefied season 3 cast
The entire main cast of Gentefied looks poised to return to the series for season 3. JoaquÃn CosÃo, J.J. Soria, Karrie Martin, and Carlos Santos would all be back as the Morales family.
Beyond the four main cast members, we should also look forward to the following cast members back for season 3: Annie Gonzalez as Lidia Solis, Bianca Melgar as Nayeli Morales, Laura Patalano as Beatriz Morales, Rafael Sigler as Pancho Solis, Brenda Banda as Norma, and Al Patiño as Chuey.
The second season introduced a handful of new characters with substantial roles that could come back for season, including Clarissa Thibeaux as Bree Solano, Manuel Uriza as Ernesto Morales, Ivana Rojas as Sarai Damian, and Melinna Bobadilla as Melinna Barragan.
